I don't understand all of these acronyms and am looking for a specific 'how to' to correct the problem as apposed to the details of how to program openGL. I understand that there are some issues with the development of something call a VC4 video driver and something called MESA. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue. The Pi4 has 4GB and seems to work just fine otherwise. Specific instructions would be great if anyone knows how to do this. The basic set up is a Pi4 with 4 GB, a heatsink/fan assembly/ and a HDMI monitor with full screen, 1920x1024, latest NOOBs SW which came on the microSD card. Is there any known work around that can be used to get the opengl to work ? I think it is some sort of driver program that is needed. Seems to make calls to openGL stuff that is not functional at all on the pi4 or at least not on mine. On the raspberry pi 4, the GNU- octave program, shows its files area in corrupted characters and if you try to do even the simplest of plots it will not display anything and crashes. The Pi continues to run fine but no Octave.Īt 7:26 into this video you can see the errors. I found a video on the web showing exactly this issue and no answer other than to go back to using the pi3! Below is the link to the video. On a fresh new install of raspberry pi 4 using the latest SW, GNU-Octave hangs when run. Installed GNU-Octave and it appears to use opengl calls in the background to draw plots. So I went and got a pi4 to speed things up a bit. I have been using a pi 3 for a while and found the gnu-Octave program to be useful.
